Wehler is project manager and clinical examiner in a clinical trial to determine the efficacy of periodontal care on the improvement of glycemic control in veterans with poorly controlled diabetes. Before this study, she was involved in a multicenter study investigating racial differences and the effect of health beliefs on cardiac decision-making. Other projects have investigated oral health and quality of life, tooth loss and bone density, and oral health among home-bound elders and homeless veterans.
