Dr. David Cottrell Associate Professor, Chairman, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs, Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine; Chief of Service, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Boston Medical Center Doctor Cottrell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1987 and completed a General Practice Residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 1998. He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Tufts University in 1992 and completed a fellowship in Maxillofacial Reconstructive Surgery at the Baylor Medical Center in 1993. Dr. Cottrell Joined the oral and maxillofacial surgery faculty at the BUGSDM in 1993. He was appointed Program Director in 1997 and Department Chairman and Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs in 2002. Doctor Cottrell's interests include orthognathic and TMJ surgery, bone grafting and regeneration and dental implant surgery.  He has authored over 50 journal articles and contributed to multiple book chapters in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. Doctor Cottrell lectures all over the world on advances in Implant surgery and bone regeneration. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
