Dental education and the process of evolving from "student" to "health care professional" is stressful. During dental school you will be introduced to concepts and techniques that are different and, in most cases, more demanding than your previous educational experiences. Becoming a professional and communicating with and treating patients is a new challenge. All of this comes at a time when personal and family lives may be changing. You may be assuming a more important role in the family with such events as marriage and children.
Therefore, support services at Boston University School of Dental Medicine are comprised of a network rather than a single office or individual. We believe that many individuals should be capable and willing to deal with the various problems that students may encounter academically, professionally and personally during their years at the school. By having a network of individuals and offices communicating with one another, we enhance and increase our resources to assist you better. You may be faced with many stresses as you grow into professional life. It is important to us that you do not feel that you have to deal with all of your problems alone. If you have a problem or a question, whomever you turn to will either help resolve the issue or point you in the right direction.
The partial list at left include links to the people you can rely on for help and support. The listing also includes some of their responsibilities.
