![]() > about the planHow does the plan work? This is an optional, prepaid plan -- you register for the year and a number of services are covered. There are no co-payments, deductibles, yearly maximums, or claim forms. Who provides my care? When you subscribe to the Student Dental Plan you will be treated at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine by highly trained dental students under the supervision of licensed dentists. The plan has the benefit of offering dental care at a lower cost than in most private offices but will require a greater time commitment on the part of the patient. How do I make my first appointment? We will contact you to make your first appointment. If you do not hear from a student doctor within three weeks of the date you sign up, please call (617) 638-5499. Coverage begins August 1, 2008 and continues through August 31, 2009. Your first visit, which will probably take an hour and a half, will include a thorough examination and radiographs (if needed). In most cases, a cleaning will be performed in a follow-up visit. If you had dental radiographs (X-rays) made within the past twelve months, you are encouraged to bring them with you to your first appointment. If the faculty dentist determines that additional radiographs are required for covered services, those radiographs will be made at no additional cost. If you are being seen by a physician or have a medical condition that requires special attention during your dental treatment, we may need a letter from your physician to help us provide you with the highest quality care. |
