Research interests include the origin of endodontic lesions that are exacerbated upon interference with the host’s ability to react to bacteria. Focus is also on aspects of the host response to bacterial infection, on the inflammatory response that leads to periodontal disease, and on the molecular mechanisms that lead to an altered host response in diabetics. Additional focus is on the role of cytokines in activating the response to periodontal and endodontic pathogens. representative publications Lu H, Kraut D, Gerstenfeld LC, Graves DT.
