Dental Chair Instructions Before seating your first patient, familiarize yourself with the features and controls of the dental chair. Refer to the helpful diagrams on the booklet you received during training. Ensure all foot control devices for the chair are off the seat and rubber pad.
Headrest
Height of headrest can be adjusted simply by pulling it up or down. Angle can be changed simply by squeezing together the black bars on either side of the headrest: release the bars when you have found the desired position. Use headrest covers for all patients.
Automatic Foot Control
Use the foot pedal control and not the switches on the side of the chair. In this way, you limit touching items and cross contamination. Whenever you want to adjust the patient’s position, warn them in advance.
Command “P” or Preset
This automatically places the patient in a reclined position; the chair slowly rises and tips backwards.
Command “A” or Auto-Return
This returns the chair to the upright position.
NOTE: Automatic motion (“A” or “P”)
This can be stopped/cancelled at any time by pressing any control switch on the foot control.
Rheostat (Foot Control)
The gray or black foot-operated toggle switch on the Rheostat is a feature designed to flush out the water line (rationale: infection control). When the water is ON the toggle will be towards the BLUE indicator DOT located on the Rheostat.
Ensure Unit is “ON” Prior to Treating your Patient.

Clean bowl thoroughly between each and every patient. (Saliva, blood residue, disclosing solution, etc.) Use disinfectant in bowl and activate timed rinse several times to wash clean.
Every patient gets a new clean cup. Fill the cup in the patient's presence to assure that the patient that the cup is fresh and new.
